Which type of filter requires the least maintenance?

Cartridge filters require the least maintenance among the various types of pool filters. These filters consist of a pleated element that captures debris and contaminants. One of the main advantages of cartridge filters is their ease of use; they can be quickly removed, cleaned, and replaced without the need for backwashing, which is common with other filter types.

Maintenance primarily involves periodic cleaning, which can usually be accomplished by simply hosing off the cartridge element or occasionally soaking it in a cleaning solution to remove oils and other buildup. Unlike sand and diatomaceous earth filters, which require more extensive maintenance processes, cartridge filters do not need frequent media replacement and are less labor-intensive.
